Sidetracked by Linux

It happens. Especially to someone like me. I was focused on learning Flex in my (said laughingly) spare time, but I received a new laptop a while back...with Vista on it. It constantly crashes, requires workarounds and patches to run my printer, scanner, software, KVM switch, and generally to just exist. A past Linux user (I was sucked back in to the Microsoft vortex in order to mesh more easily with the rest of those who reside in it), I've been keeping an eye on Ubuntu as a quick and dirty way to return to the fold. So my spare time right now is spent setting that up.

But! Do not worry! I have made progress with Flex in a Week. I have downloaded Flex Builder 3. It is successfully installed and I even opened it up and looked at it. I also took the Flex in a Week advice and set up the tutorials on Adobe Media Player (it lets me view the tutorials offline, which is helpful, I guess, I'll let you know if I like that or not, cause it's not like I really needed another media player on my desktop).

So, I've reviewed Video 1 (learned nothing--it covered the differences and interactions of Flex/Flash/AIR blah blah blah. Boring and I confess I barely paid any attention whatever. Moved on to Video 2 which started to cover the interface of Flex Builder 3 (which is what prompted the opening up of Flex Builder 3)--never finished because was pulled away by assorted emergencies until today. Tonight and the rest of this week I hereby vow to re-visit Video 2 and move forward. I will try really really hard. Really. I will.
