I went to MT's site for support on this one. And I found the title, got all excited. Clicked on it. And the page was blank. Not Kidding. Check it out. So. Here's what I finally figured out and did (again as a support to the world...I'm learning Flex, but I also spend my days handling SEO, so you're getting it all).
The best way I found to add Google Analytics to the site was to create a Global Template Module, call it Google Analytics and paste in the code that Google provides you AS IS. Hit Save.
Then add this handy dandy bit of code in to the bottom of the Template for Banner Footer right after the last </div> tag:
<$mt:Include module="Google Analytics"$>
Do that for every blog, including any aggregate blog page you may have set up.
To make verification easy (and because I have easy access to the server) I just created the HTML verification page that Google provided.
Within minutes Google was reading our site.

Thanks so much for publishing this. After too much time spent pulling my hair out (and still some things not working as I would like) on everything else, it was nice to be able to find your straight forward post about adding GA and have it work as advertised. Until I found your post, I was about to put my GA code straight into the footer template.

Thanks for this, took me a while to figure out where to insert everything (which is the main reason I never had a blogroll in the first place, but whatever) but it's working fine now (except that now I need to rebuilt all my old entries.. and unless I do it a few at a time it crashes but that's another problem..)
