About

UPDATE: (November, 2010) Well, time has passed and technology has changed. Adobe bought Day Software and with that little purchase suddenly my skills in online marketing and history with websites is more relevant than it was "back in the day". So I'll be adding some blogs about my thoughts around where the acquisition of Day Software by Adobe could lead (time permitting, of course) and my overall thoughts on online marketing, websites, and communicating with customers. As always, all opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of 4Point (though I put up a mean fight....).

BACK IN THE DAY, I WROTE THIS: (January 8, 2009) I am 4Point's Marketing Manager, but my blog is not about Marketing. Instead, it's about my underground role / moonlighting as a part-time 'techie' who loves to dabble (aka hopefully not eradicate by some blunder that the real techies must save me from) in what is considered the 'techie' domain.

Over the years I've fought the "you couldn't possibly understand what I'm talking about...it's technical...and you're in marketing" with a stubborn determination (I'm dutch, and yes, it does explain more than you might think). Largely self-taught, I've tackled HTML (I upkeep our website), Visual Basic (I've built databases in my past), some SQL scripting (again those pesky databases), networking (I've crawled in ceilings to run wires), computer repair (I have the four computers and five boxes of junk in my basement to prove it), lately Wiki Markup (we use Confluence for our intranet), and of course, now, MT.

My latest fascination is with Flex and AIR and this will be the main focus of my blog: though I may throw in some other stuff as time flies. Because 4Point is an Adobe solution partner I have easy access to Flex Builder 3 and after stumbling upon Flex in a Week: well the challenge is on. I'm sure I'll be calling upon (begging) my co-workers (the Flex experts) to help: and I am also positive that I'll be ridiculed regularly. It's all good.
